Abstract
The title of this bachelor project is “Afklaring af midlertidig kapacitetsforøgelse” (Clarification of temporary increase in capacity), and it is written as a part of the final bachelor semester at the education as Bachelor of Technology Management and Marine Engineering. The education is conducted at Aarhus School of Marine and Technical Engineering, as a part of their online education program. This project is made in cooperation with the company “Thisted Varmeforsyning a.m.b.a” (Thisted District heating a.m.b.a), in which one of the authors, Per Bakke, have completed an internship during the present 6th semester.
The project investigates the possibilities of increasing the accumulated heat production, by optimizing and expanding the geothermal- and exhaust gas heat exchanger (KVVT) units. The investigation is founded on the two questions raised below here.
 Can the heat energy from the exhaust gas heat exchanger unit be utilized in a different/better way?
 Can the pressurized-hot-water energy be utilized in a better way?
This project sets up two scenarios, which implemented separately increases the total production capacity by 0,405MW and 3,571MW, when compared with the present scenario. A 3th scenario is introduced in the projects final discussion chapter, this scenario combines findings in scenario 1 and 2. This scenario increases the total production capacity with 3,679MW
Based on analysis, and simulations, the project group reaches the conclusion, to recommend that the combined scenario 3 is implemented at Thisted Varmeforsyning.
