This bachelor report has been made with the perspective to solve the last module on Aarhus marine and technical engineering school. The report has been compiled at Jeld-Wen Eesti AS in Estonia. Jeld-Wen are producing windows and doors, and has approximately 20,000 employees worldwide across 100 locations, in America, Asia, Europe and Australia. Jeld-Wen Europe is today one of the leading door manufactures in Europe, offering complete door solutions.
The report has been prepared in close co-operation with Jeld-Wen Eesti AS, according to systems information, and different measurements. The reports goal is to analyze and improve the compressed air system at Jeld-Wen Eesti AS.
The compressed air systems described in the report consist of 5 compressors in total from Atlas Copco, and one management system ES 8 from Atlas Copco. In the report you will find a system overview of the compressed air system and where the compressors are located.
The main system in the main building and the system in the component building is described and analyzed. Therefore the total energy consumption to compressed air has been measured and calculated. The total compressed air leaks and air leaks in different departments on the factory is calculated, and compared to the average produced compressed air.
The compressors setup and priority on the ES 8 compressor management system are analyzed. It is discovered that the priority setup, of the compressors, can be changed to a more energy efficient solution. As the air leaks, in different departments are calculated, you will see the effect of closing down the compressed air in departments, with no production in night shift.
You will find solutions and proposals at the end of the report on how to reduce air leaks, and change the compressor setup. Also you will find an analysis of the energy consumption of pneumatic sanding tools compared to electric sanding tools. Calculations on potential savings if the given solutions would come true, you will find in the end of the report. |
